Whether the style of your kitchen and/or bathrooms is contemporary, modern, industrial, or traditional, the countertops will play a major role in the end result of these rooms. Guidance in selecting the right countertop for a particular space is one of the things that I get asked about often, so I thought I’d share with you my top 3 choices in this month’s blog.
Granite is the most popular choice for countertops, hands down. It can also be an expensive choice. But this expense is well worth it when designing your kitchen if you are looking for that luxury finish that granite can offer to every space. Granite is a strong and durable material, but it must be treated with the right sealant, as it is a very porous surface and can easily indulge stains. Once treated it will last for many years, just make sure you use the proper cleaners to protect your investment.
Marble is another natural stone. Also a symbol of luxury, marble is very unique because no two slabs of this stone are the same. Often we see marble being used in a small area, like the island in the kitchen, or the vanity area in a luxury bathroom. Marble is waterproof and heat resistant, but this natural stone also has to be properly sealed to live up to its glory. This is a great choice when going for a luxury experience.
Quartz countertops have become very popular these days. Quartz is an engineered stone and was created as an alternative to the naturally occurring granite and marble options. Quartz has the look of the more expensive countertops, but it’s more affordable and it can withstand heat, as well as water and stains, without the need for additional treatments.
So there you have it, my top 3 choices for countertops. Do you have any of these at home? Which one would you choose for your next remodel? Leave us a comment below. As always, I love sharing my ideas with you.
